I’m not pirating movies, I’m just training my model.

In all of our history, we’ve never had more money to design beautiful, functional and usable products. The bar is higher than ever, yet, they’ve never been more boring and devoid of soul.

These apps are tools of power that masquerade as tools of agency… Design tools like Canva and Figma are tools of power that masquerade as tools of expression. Meeting tools like Zoom or Google Meet are tools of power that masquerade as communication tools.

Large software systems that aren’t shit sometimes get created, but we don’t really know how or why this happens. More often they turn into a cronenbergian grotesque that’s a legacy system before it goes into production.

Once upon a time people were born into communities and had to find their individuality. Today people are born individuals and have to find their communities.

AI Design Journal

I've been tinkering this week with the idea of a Design Journal to track project progress, reflect on the work and ultimately have a record of the work I do. So much of the agency I have is in what I decide to do next. Choosing how to present something colours the feedback. Choosing the framing of an idea draws out certain biases and masks others.
