Shepherding ideas through the process is the hard bit. As a designer it's our job to look after those ideas. It's like a nursery for ideas, there are no bad ideas, like there are no bad kids in nursery. The job is to just cultivate them as best you can, allow them to flourish.
Knowing that soon they will have to move up to school where things will be asked of them. Demands will be placed. They will change, adapt, evolve. Some will fail to live up to the early promise. Some won't make the grade. Some will excel beyond all expectations.
